2020 Live (Onlinel) WordPress Training
How to Create a Powerful WordPress Site You Can Easily Manage Yourself in 2020
– Even if You’re a Beginner
Put yourself on the waiting list for earliest notification when registration opens again in March, 2020.
Picture yourself logging into your bank account, or PayPal, and being surprised at the balance – in a good way!
This actually happens when you have a successful web-based business.
If you’re reading this, I probably don’t need to tell you all the benefits of having your own business, online. It insulates you from a lot of the scary things that are happening out in the world, and gives you a whole lot more control over your finances and your lifestyle. (And this is actually the perfect time to invest in opportunities for growth.)
But before you can enjoy the fruits of your great business idea, you need to put it online. In other words, you need a website.
What’s been stopping you from building a website until now?
Maybe you just don’t know where to start, or you’re worried that you don’t have the skills to do it yourself. At the same time, you don’t want to spend a ton of money hiring a developer to build it for you.
I learned how to build websites, hand-coding them with HTML, back in the mid-1990s. It took a lot of time, and a fair amount of expertise.
Then in 2003, something new came along.
WordPress took the drudgery out of building websites, it automated a lot of the repetitive parts of sitebuilding, and it took off like a rocket.
Today, WordPress is the most popular platform on the planet for building websites – no specialized IT knowledge or programming required!
Now I’m inviting you to join me in a series of live, interactive, online sessions to show you, step-by-step, how to create your own powerful WordPress site.
And by “live,” I mean in real time, but completely virtual.
And you won’t have a completed site “someday” — you’ll have it by the end of the program!
If you’ve never built a website before, imagine the sense of accomplishment and satisfaction you’ll feel when you can tell your friends, family, clients, or customers, “just go to my website at mycompany.com to find out all about my business!”
Or, if you’re like some of the non-technical people I work with, enjoy the sheer relief of overcoming what can seem like an insurmountable technical challenge to starting your business.
Why Build it Yourself Instead of Hiring Someone Like Me to Build it For You?
Back in the day, a company that found a typo on its website would need to hire an expert to fix it.
Want to add a page, or a product or service? Hire an expert. . .
If you pay a developer to produce a finished website for you today, your pricing will start at $2,000. . .
Today, when you’ve built the site yourself from the ground up using WordPress, you can relax knowing you’ll never have to hire someone else to add content, make changes to the site, or upload images, audio, or video. And even if you’re not super technical, you can do this!
Live Online Instruction and Coaching
This won’t be your everyday WordPress class.
Instead, you’ll watch me go through every step of building a WordPress site, and create your own right along with me.
Altogether we’ll hold 18-20 hours of live instruction and coaching over 6 weeks. During that time, I’ll show you exactly what you need to do – step by step – to install WordPress and create a working site. Best of all, you can follow along and build your own site while I’m putting my demo site together.
When we’re done, you’ll have a working WordPress site, and the knowledge and understanding to continue adding content, maintaining, and upgrading it.
You’ll know how to
- Set up hosting
- Install WordPress
- Create pages and posts
- Add and edit images
- And much more!
You’ll have the pages you need for an effective website that’s open for business, and the knowledge to enhance it further if you need to.
There are plenty of existing courses that use written materials, video, or both for you to follow at your own pace.
That’s great, and there’s definitely a place for those. With this live training, though, you won’t have a working WordPress site at some nebulous, future “someday,” you’ll have it by the end of the training.
We’ll be working together, in real time. You can ask a question, right then, and get an immediate answer. The service we’ll be using for the live event will even let you show me exactly what you see on your screen, so there’s no confusion.
I’m there to help you every step of the way.
At the same time, when you join this program, you’re committing to putting in the time to end up with a working WordPress website. Please don’t join if you aren’t going to do the work!
With live training, you’ll watch as I build a WordPress site in real time, and you’ll do it right along with me.
And it’s virtual, of course, so you can join me from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.
In our weekly Office Hours session, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, and get them answered on the spot. No slow email back-and-forth (although I’ll be available for that, too), just questions and answers on the spot. This is live, one-on-one coaching.
Each live session — all of the training and coaching — will be recorded, so you’ll have a replay to watch later in case you have to miss a session, or just to review.
For those of you who’d rather read than watch a video, I’ll have written instructions, too.
And everything will be in plain English – you won’t need an IT degree to understand what I’m saying.
I’ll give you step-by-step instructions that will walk you through the entire process, from turning your business idea into a finished website.
There’s tremendous power in working with a group. Human beings are hard wired to be part of a community, and that’s especially true when you’re learning something new or embarking on a new project.
I learned firsthand about the power of working within a group back in 2012. I had just moved to Panama after several hugely stressful years, my finances were in shambles from the economic meltdown of 2009, and I knew I needed to come up with a way to do business online.
So I signed up for the program that ultimately led me to develop WordPress Building Blocks. The instructor was knowledgeable and helpful, the materials were excellent, but it was really the group that propelled me toward success.
Being able to talk about my ideas, fears, frustrations, stumbling blocks, and victories, and get support and encouragement from others, was priceless.
There’s something really powerful in hanging around with people who are facing the same challenges you are, and working to overcome them at the same time.
Participating in the group will help you in many ways.
- You won’t feel like the Lone Ranger – sometimes our nearest and dearest don’t have a clue about what we’re trying to do
- You’ll have people to bounce ideas off of
- You’ll have people to share your concerns and frustrations with
- You’ll have people to support your efforts, and you’ll support theirs
Live Training and Coaching will start during the first week in April, and enrollment will open soon. Of course, people on the waiting list will have the first chance for limited seats. . . If there are any available slots after waiting list people have registered, I’ll open them up (at a higher price!) to others.
Limited Class Size
I’m purposely keeping the class size small so I can give you individual attention.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any special skills or expertise?
No. If you can send and reply to an email, you can do this.
Do I need any special equipment?
You’ll need a computer (or tablet) that’s connected to the internet, and the bandwidth and storage to upload and download files. If you’ve ever attached a picture to a Facebook post, you’ve got this.
I’ve read about starting a blog in 20 minutes, why does this take 20 hours?
Well, first of all, I’ve seen that 20-minute claim, and I’m pretty skeptical. I’m an experienced WordPress sitebuilder, and sure, I could start a blog in 20 minutes. It would be bland, it would look exactly like thousands of other blogs, and there would be nothing unique about it to show the world why you stand out.
What we’re talking about here is not a simple blog, but a full-bodied site that’s open and ready for business.
Will I need to do anything before the program starts?
Yes. Put on your thinking cap. Before you can build a site, you’ll need a domain name and hosting. The first lesson will walk you through how to register the domain name and start your hosting account, but it’s up to you to come up with the name!
Once you’re enrolled, I’ll send you some hints, tips, and ideas for choosing a good domain name so you can start to think about it.
Then be prepared for weekly assignments that will guide you through the entire process, with lots of live feedback and encouragement. When we’re done, you’ll have a site you can be proud of.
Here’s What Others Have Said
The live training helped me to understand WordPress better because I could ask you questions in the moment for better understanding. Plus other students asked questions I hadn’t thought about. We could talk to each other to gain clarity and to help each other.
I took a class previously on building a website. I read books on WordPress, searched the support on WordPress.org, and experimented with my own site. I was frustrated and stopped. I needed someone to talk to who understood how to do this. I learned so much.
The class showed me things I didn’t know to ask for and gave me tools I didn’t know I needed. It was fantastic.
Thank you so much for all your help in building my first website. Thank you also for your patience and persistence in dealing with a novice such as myself.
“It’s been an enjoyable learning experience and I appreciate all your time, effort and expertise in helping me to bring my site to life. You truly are an expert when it comes to WordPress and websites and nothing was ever too difficult.
“I would highly recommend your services to others and would not hesitate to use your services again.
That’s one of the MANY things I like about working with you: persistence, attention to detail, desire to make a positive difference.
Wait! That’s three things instead of one…
Well, I can’t put the genie back in the bottle!
[Susanna’s] product knowledge is excellent in a field where updates are a constant and her calm, humorous approach was a real help when my nerves kicked in or indecision struck.
I’d work with her again in a heartbeat and have no qualms in recommending her to friends and colleagues (in fact I’ve already done just that!)
Susanna is a great teacher. Her knowledge of building and using websites for professional and personal use is extensive, and she shares her expertise willingly.
